WHO I AM

WHO I AM

I’m a queer marriage celebrant living in the Inner West with my family of 4 girls (5 if you count our dog, Fraggle) and also our old and cranky kitty, Mr Cat Stevens. My goal is to create a safe space for all my couples regardless of their gender, and who they are choosing to marry.

As well as my love for weddings, pets and colouring my hair Pink or Purple, I really enjoy an adventure. So I am always willing to travel outside of the Inner West, to other parts of Australia and world-wide. I have performed hundreds of weddings since I started in 2018, I have the experience to make sure your wedding is relaxed, fun, enjoyable and truely unforgettable.

I have a passion for love, equality, respect and specialising in LGBTQIA weddings. Being a part of the queer community I've had many couple's who have chosen me to be their celebrant as I realise the importance of belonging, having the right language and wanting non-traditional weddings.

You can trust me to take care of your celebration, and to make it what the two of you are really wanting out of your day. I am a mum to 2 beautiful little girls, been married to my wife for 9 years. I am a total animal lover, being a Veterinary Nurse for over 10 years. Thinking of bringing or including your pet in your ceremony? Amazing!

The day marriage equality was passed in Australia in 2017, I knew that I wanted to become a celebrant and help make couple's "dream day" a reality. I've been doing it ever since and absolutely love it.

VOW RENEWALS

I do, again!!!!!

Weddings are certainly cause for celebration, but they really just mark the easy part. The real success comes later, after your love weathers all the ups and downs of marriage. That's why vow renewal ceremonies are so important.

You can renew your vows however many years, and however many times, after tying the knot, giving you the opportunity to celebrate your love in a much more intimate way than a wedding. Plus, without the pressure from your family, you can essentially do whatever you want.

There are several reasons that couples decide to renew their vows. These can be:

1.    The couple is celebrating a wedding day anniversary

2.   The couple has married overseas and some family members were not able to travel.

3.   The both of you love a good party and a renewal of vows in front of your nearest and dearest is the perfect reason!

Whatever the reason, let me help you design and create the most romantic way to say "I do, still".

NAMING CEREMONIES

Welcome to the world

A Naming Ceremony is a celebration of family and life. I will write a ceremony for you that is personalised and meaningful. It can be as short and sweet as you like, or we can go more in depth and add lots of detail. The most important part is choosing the aspects that are special to you and your family.

It will include officially naming your child and declarations of promises and commitments from parents and other significant members of the family.

Parents state their hopes and wishes for the child’s future and will share the experience with family and friends who attend the ceremony.  You may also choose 'guideparents' or 'guardians' to make commitments to support and guide the child as they grow.  Some like to personalise the ceremony with readings and poems or include symbolic elements such as lighting candles or planting.

The family usually hold a celebration after the ceremony at the same location.

Liz was by far the most organised, entertaining, professional and kind celebrant we met beforehand and on the day was just absolutely amazing to have around. The amount of people that commented on how good the actual ceremony was due to her eye for detail was more than what we received for getting married ha! 100% best and could not recommend her enough to help with your special day. Thank you so so much Liz you are absolutely fantastic.

They include personalised ceremony planning, assistance with legal paperwork, and my presence on your wedding day with my own PA system. There are 2 packages to choose from: A legals only wedding package, or the Personalised Wedding Ceremony. • What is an Acknowledgement of Country?
An Acknowledgement of Country is a statement that shows awareness and respect of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is a small but meaningful way for us to give First Nation peoples back their place in society. It is a simple statement that is made at the beginning of a meeting or event and acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land that you are standing on (First Nations people have been tending this land for around 60,000 years!) Why does your celebrant perform an Acknowledgement of Country? The Australian Government recommends that an Acknowledgement of (or Welcome to) Country be performed at the beginning of any significant meeting or event that is held on Australian soil. As Government registered professionals appointed to deliver meetings and events, it is our duty to acknowledge the recommendations of the Australian Government regarding event protocol and follow them where possible. Why not a Welcome to Country? A welcome to Country can only be performed by an approved Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person of the land on which you are standing. Since I as your celebrant do not fall into that category, the correct protocol is to perform an Acknowledgement of Country. It’s like the difference in saying “Welcome to my home”, or “Thanks for having us”. What should be said? There are many different ways to deliver an Acknowledgement of Country and you can talk about the specifics with your celebrant. Your celebrant will research the correct Traditional Owners of your venue and will collaborate with you to include this simple but important wording into your ceremony. If you have any queries about this process or the significance of an Acknowledgement of Country, feel free to chat with your celebrant about it or go to www.reconciliation.org.au to find out more.
  • How far in advance should I book your services for my wedding?
I recommend booking as soon as you have a date in mind. It ensures availability and allows us sufficient time to plan your dream ceremony. Contact me to check my availability and secure your date. The first legal document, called the 'Notice Of Intended Marriage' needs to be completed and lodged with me at least one month before getting married, and no more than 18 months in advance. If your wedding is more than 18 months away, you can still book me in and we will complete the paperwork within the 18 month time frame.
  • Do you offer services for vow renewals and naming ceremonies?
Yes, I offer personalised services for vow renewals and naming ceremonies as well. Whether celebrating an anniversary or welcoming a new member to your family, I'm here to help you create a memorable and meaningful ceremony.
